HYDERABAD: Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM and the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday demanded that Goshamahal BJP MLA T Raja Singh be removed from his post for violating his oath as an MLA.
In a representation to legislative assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, AIMIM general secretary and Yakutpura MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri said Raja Singh should be expelled from the House.
Alleging that Raja Singh’s conduct was unbecoming of a member of the House, the AIMIM sought action against Raja Singh under Article 194 of the Constitution for breach of privilege and contempt of the House.
Quadri said Raja Singh’s purported comments against the Prophet and Islam have hurt the sentiments of Muslims, which is a blatant violation of his oath as an MLA.
“The oath binds a member to bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution. Secularism and fraternity are part of the basic structure of the Constitution,” Quadri pointed out.
Raja Singh has repeatedly incited violence, promoted enmity, hatred and ill-will against Muslims. Thus, he also violated his oath to uphold the integrity of India,” said the AIMIM general secretary in his representation to the speaker.
The party said the BJP MLA was suspended from the House earlier this year for his misbehaviour.
CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy also demanded that Raja Singh be removed from his MLA post for hurting the sentiments of Muslims and making derogatory remarks against the Prophet.
Venkat Reddy also found fault with the BJP and its frontal organisations’ attack on TRS MLC K Kavitha’s residence recently.
Reddy said that BCs, SCs and downtrodden from the state will come on a single platform against the BJP and RSS if they do not stop their politics of hatred.
