Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area which has formed over the Bay of Bengal on Monday, could see rainfall activity continuing till Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted.
The system, developed under the influence of Sunday’s cyclonic circulation over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, is likely to move west-northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast over the next 2 days, the IMD bulletin stated.
H R Biswas, the regional head of IMD centre in the city, said there could be heavy rain at isolated places on Tuesday. Thereafter, intensity of rain would decrease gradually over the next two days.
The office of special relief commissioner (SRC) on Monday also issued a revised advisory, asking all district collectors to remain alert.
For Tuesday, the forecast said most places in the state will experience rainfall. There could be heavy to very heavy rain (7cm to 20cm) in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Besides, there is warning of heavy rain at Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrepada, Balasore and Bhadrak.
